Note: Everyone knows the key ingredient to amazing barbecue is love. The “Share the Love” series of posts is an opportunity for me to share what I’ve been up to lately as well as a few of my favorite barbecue and grilling links I’ve recently come across that I think you’ll enjoy.
Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Atlanta’s premier steak restaurant, Kevin Rathbun Steak. I’ve eaten there a number of times since I own a condo just two blocks away and have always enjoyed my meal. From the filet, to the the New York Strip, to the rib eye, they’ve always been cooked to a perfect medium rare and charred ever so nicely, just the way I prefer them.
Last night, however, after actually seeing and chatting with Kevin Rathbun (VERY cool, but wish I would have had the nerve to take a picture in hindsight!) at his bar, I decided that I wasn’t in the mood for another steak and decided to give something else a shot this time around: his Prime Wagyu Ribeye Burger.
I’ve had some excellent burgers in my day, but I have to say this one was honestly, probably the best I’ve ever had. To start things off, you’re talking 12 ounces (the thing was a monster) of prime Wagyu beef so you know you’re getting a burger that’s going to be crazy juicy and just melt in your mouth, which it certainly did. He also tops if off with apple wood smoked bacon, cheddar, and a fried egg to give it a little extra richness. Throw in a fried pickle and a perfectly ripe tomato slice and I was in burger heaven, no doubt. The only problem is that it’s a pretty heavy meal (obviously), so I’m still feeling every single one of those ungodly amount of calories, but you have to know that’s going to be a side effect going in.
Anyhow, definitely pay Kevin Rathbun Steak a visit next time you find yourself in Atlanta – you absolutely will not regret it.

Here you’ll find step-by-step pictures of the preparation and the end-product.
