Grilled Fruit Cobbler Recipe

December 9, 2016 by Kamado Liz Leave a Comment

This simple and sweet cobbler dish can be made in a cast iron skillet on your Kamado grill as a delicious dessert. After you take out whatever your main dish is, place this simple dish in the grill and let it cook, then serve it warm with some ice cream!

While I tend to use berries in my cobbler, you can use basically any fruit. It is excellent with apples and cinnamon, or with peaches if that’s more your thing. Don’t be afraid to experiment with fruits and the amounts as well!

Ingredients
  1. 3-4 cups of berries or other fruit*
  2. 4 Tbsp sugar
  3. 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  4. 1-2 cans refrigerated biscuits*
  5. 1 Tbsp milk
Instructions
  1. Heat your grill to 350°F but not hotter than 400°F (medium high heat).
  2. Add fruit to the skillet and sprinkle 3 Tbsp of the sugar, reserving the last Tbsp for the top. Add the cornstarch and stir until the fruit is covered
  3. Place biscuits over the fruit. They should touch, but feel free to leave room to expand
  4. Brush milk on biscuits and sprinkle with remaining sugar
  5. Place skillet on grill and heat, covered, for 15 minutes, then monitor every few minutes. Cobbler is done when fruit filling begins to bubble and biscuits are lightly browned on top. May take up to 30 minutes for a cooler grill.
Notes
  1. *You may need more or less fruit and biscuits depending on the size of your skillet. The fruit should be about an inch thick on the bottom, and the biscuits should loosely cover the berries.
