Note: Everyone knows the key ingredient to amazing barbecue is love. The “Share the Love” series of posts is an opportunity for me to share what I’ve been up to lately as well as a few of my favorite barbecue and grilling links I’ve recently come across that I think you’ll enjoy.
This morning, I woke up around 5:30 am which isn’t all that out of the ordinary being that we have a teething 5-month old on our hands, but this morning was different in that it was absolutely freezing in our house.
Apparently, I had somehow missed the news that a pretty significant cold front was moving in over night. Um, yeah. About that. Just two days ago I was wearing shorts and flip flops and now here I am, racing to the thermostat to turn the heat on for the first time since early last spring.
As odd as it sounds, I’m actually starting to embrace the cold as I get older, though. Growing up on the beach, I absolutely hated it when the air began to get get chilly and I couldn’t swim in the ocean any longer, but these days, I’m starting to enjoy hanging out around the fire place, enjoying the occasional football game, and devouring a hot & hearty meal for dinner.
I think I’ll always be a warm weather kind of guy at heart, but I’m slowly but surely learning how to embrace this cold weather that’s on its way…which is a good thing if this morning’s weather is any indication of the weather to come!

- Spicy Cumin Lamb Skewers – Head on over to The Meatwave for an incredible looking, Middle Eastern-inspired Cumin Lamb recipe. You can nearly taste the spice infused into the kabobs through these beautiful photos.
- Tex-Mex Style Smoked Pork – Learn how to make a Tex-Mex style pulled pork over at Nibble Me This. I have no doubt we’ll be making our own variation of Tex-Mex pork being that we eat a ton of Mexican-style dishes and my wife can only stand so much of the traditional BBQ flavored meat each week.
- Doughnut Peaches Wrapped in Bacon – Marcus, over at CountryWoodSmoke, has taken a summer time favorite and kicked it up a notch by wrapping in in…what else? BACON! Taking it even a step further, he recommends drizzling them with maple syrup and serving with vanilla ice cream. While our peach season has some and gone here outside Atlanta, we’ll be giving this a shot next year for sure!
