Note: Everyone knows the key ingredient to amazing barbecue is love. The “Share the Love” series of posts is an opportunity for me to share what I’ve been up to lately as well as a few of my favorite barbecue and grilling links I’ve recently come across that I think you’ll enjoy.
As I mentioned last month, I couldn’t be more excited to attend the 17th annual EGGtoberfest coming up on October 11th at Stone Mountain park. For those who don’t know, EGGtoberfest is a massive gathering of “Eggheads” and barbecue lovers alike to come together to cook all sorts of culinary delights on Big Green Eggs.
Big Green Egg Inc. provides all the eggs for the various teams to cook on and at the end of the festival, each egg is sold at a steep discount to those who’d like to purchase one. Needless to say, it’s an awesome opportunity to come see and taste what the Big Green Egg is capable of, so if you’re in the metro Atlanta area, you’re not going to want to miss it.
So, what’s the secret?
The secret is that I have some really exciting news about this year’s EGGtoberfest. Unfortunately, I’m unable to reveal exactly what the secret is at this point, but I promise you you’ll be the first to know as soon as we get a little closer to the event. I know it sucks to be left hanging, but if you’re really interested, make sure to follow me and the #EGGtoberfest hashtag on Twitter and you might just find out before everyone else!
In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that a couple friends of mine (Meat Church and Big Green Craig) are raffling off some pretty sweet BMW gear as a means to collect funds for their EGGtoberfest cook team. Please give the raffle page a visit and consider buying a ticket or two to show your support to some of the best Kamado cooks around!

Pork tenderloin sliders w/ BBQ onions – I stumbled upon this recipe and how-to from Joe over at MMMGOBLUBBQ and my jaw almost hit the floor. There’s not much I like better than a perfectly cooked pork tenderloin, but Joe absolutely outdid himself by crafting these delectable looking sandwiches.
Lodge cast iron set – Looks like I’m not the only one who picked up their first piece of Lodge Cast Iron. Big Green Smoke picked up a killer 5-piece set from amazon.com for a great deal and whipped up a batch of pancakes on his Big Green Egg.
Grilled cheese corn on the cob – Sure, we’ve all had our fair share of grilled corn on the cob, but Weekend Grilling kicked it up a notch by loading it up with parmesan cheese before throwing it on the grill. The results, as you can probably imagine, look pretty delicious!
